* JN Dead-cut

PSEUDO - chapter 9, page 761

JN stands for Jack Newton, a true legend and one of the best hustlers I have ever met—he was one of the few people that forced me to start looking at gambling sleight of hand from an entirely different perspective. His book, Gentleman Jack Newton - Confessions of a Crossroad Gambler (Newton, 2008) is getting harder and harder to find. Grab a copy if you can; it's solid gold!

This move is not JN's move, but an extension of his false riffle/cut (page 108). After riffling the ace up into the deck and securing a right thumb break underneath, the deck is rolled on its end and the front of the deck is squeezed to show squareness before slapping the deck to the table and dead cutting to the break. The squeezing action was shown to me by Texas magician Roger Klause. Combining these ideas led to one of my all-time favorite dead-cuts.
