Riffling-down w/ OTT Riffle
The question posed was whether 'riffling down' is workable with OTT riffles. The answer is yes and may even be more deceptive because the OTT riffle commonly ends with a cascade. This move appeared in '52' without a name or explanation.
For the first riffle, the slug is allowed to riffle last. For the second riffle, the top slug is riffled down into the deck. During the cascade, the left thumb holds the x-cards riffled on top to stop them from being squared, which creates a small step at the left end of the deck. As the deck is rotated face down and parallel with the table, the right hand stays close to the end for cover—this position can be seen on page 157, photo 111. The left hand then rotates while covering the step on the left end before cutting the x-cards to the bottom (page 158, photo 112). Note: the explanation and photos in GSOH describe and depict a full-deck control; here we're talking about carrying a top slug.
