Whereby 'weeding' is a method for apparently assembling and squaring the discards randomly, there are dozens of ways to fake the 'scramble' or 'wash.' In professional games with house dealers, this pre-shuffle phase is generally short and fast—poker players like to see the game move along with as many hands dealt per hour as possible. With this method, the top slug is slid from hand to hand, unlike the more common methods where one hand stays on top of the slug throughout the procedure.
