Straddle Bottom

FALSE DEALS - chapter 5, page 445

When asked about the first bottom to learn, I recommend the 'straddle bottom.' The only requirement is that your fingers can comfortably stretch and frame the deck. After that, the straddle bottom is a strike bottom where the fingers remain extended throughout the deal, which eliminates finger movement. Once in the proper grip, which should be away from the thumb crotch and closer to the fingertips, the closer you take the bottom card in perfect side-by-side alignment to the deck, the less resistance. It's one of the few bottoms that can be learned in little time.
