MUCKS, BREAK-OFFS, COOLERS & MORE - chapter 7, page 584

An insightful question was asked about the dealer holding out during the cut. The reader questioned the handling of presenting the cut to the cutter on the dealer's right with a dirty right hand. He's right, the action is angle prone to most players in a round game. I do not know if the following sequence has ever been attempted, but it's my solution to the problem—of course, the obvious solution to cop/steal/palm with the left hand.

Let's assume the target cards are copped in the right hand during shuffle. Instead of grabbing the deck with the right hand, slide the dirty hand back to the table's edge and present the deck for the cut with the left hand. In this way, the dirty hand has cover. Carry the cut with the left hand, stepping the bottom half. Bring the right hand to the right end of the deck to square the deck and in a continuous action, scoop the held-out cards under the deck as it's placed in the dealing position.
