* Undercut Cooler (traditional)
MUCKS, BREAK-OFFS, COOLERS & MORE - chapter 7, page 551
As stated in GSOH, this cooler is often incorrectly credited to John Scarne, but the move is much older. Scarne's hands, however, were used to switch decks with this method in The Sting, starring Paul Newman and Robert Redford. Apparently mob boss Doyle Lonnegan, played by Robert Shaw, kicked in the cooler under the guise of a two-handed undercut. Although the cooler is well known, the clean-up is not; its sole purpose is to avoid immediately 'going south' (under the table) after the switch. I leak a little bringing my hands together but it's close enough to show you the pace and rhythm of the move.
