Fake Square-ups (pull-out)
SHUFFLES & CUTS - chapter 2, page 149
Although this is the most basic of all methods for the pull-out, do not discard it without careful study. It can be a perfect match for most default shuffles and there's excellent cover. With the proper rhythm, smoothness, and casualness, it's a strong variant. Although beyond the scope of GSOH, in most multi-player card games where each player views the shuffle from a different angle (front, front off-center, corners, sides, even slightly behind), there's more going on with this false shuffle than meets the eye.
The shuffle can end with full-deck false cuts to carry the entire deck or end with an f-strip to deceptively carry half the deck. The more believable the fake squaring action, the better the move.
