In-the-Air Shift
BEATING THE CUT - chapter 4, page 298
Don't overlook this shift; it has all kinds of potential. It was included in the '52' section of the Gambling Protection DVDs without a name or explanation. I have found it to be a practical shift for games like blackjack and other banking games whereby after the shuffle and cut, the deck is brought to the dealer's left and may be tapped on its end before 'dealing from a ribbon spread' or from a makeshift cardboard shoe (card box cut in half—as was common in Boston where I grew up). The shift can also be done under cover of turning the deck face up.
